Laser Hair Removal: It's So Easy You'll Wonder Why You Waited So Long

Tired of constantly shaving, waxing, or using hair removal creams? Getting rid of unwanted body hair can take hours of your time and leave you with skin rashes, razor bumps or burns, or even allergic reactions.

Add the cost of all the supplies you need to keep your skin smooth and hair-free, and this can be a significant drain on your time and resources.

At Radiance MedSpa DC, Dr. Vikisha Fripp and our team of expert clinicians can deliver incredible results with a laser hair removal technique that will leave your skin smooth and hairless for longer, so you can ditch your razors and creams and get on with your life.

What type of laser is used?

At Radiance MedSpa DC, our team depends on the consistent results provided by the Cutera® CoolGlide laser hair removal system to make our patients completely satisfied.

A common problem with laser hair removal systems is that they only work safely on pale skin. With Cutera, our clienteles' diverse skin tones can all benefit from the cool clide of this advanced laser system. If you have light skin, but recently tanned, make sure to tell us in advance, so we can adjust the laser accordingly.

How does laser hair removal work?

The Cutera laser targets your hair follicles, which are the small sacs in your pores from which each individual hair grows. Each hair absorbs the laser's energy and vaporizes, leaving the follicle disabled.

It takes anywhere from two to eight weeks for a follicle to regain the ability to grow hair, with the interval becoming longer with each treatment. Eventually, your hair follicles may stop growing hair completely.

Is laser hair removal painful?

The Cutera CoolGlide handpiece cools and soothes as it glides along your skin, delivering pulses of light to target the hair follicles. Most patients experience nothing more than a mild stinging or pinching sensation, like the gentle snap of a rubber band. Our clinicians will offer a topical anesthetic to ensure you don’t feel any discomfort.

The method is so gentle it can even be used on your most sensitive areas, like along your bikini line or chest area.

What about after the treatment?

After your laser hair removal session (which typically takes 30 minutes to an hour), you may see some redness for a few days. You’ll need to make sure to use sunscreen when going outside. Over the next few weeks, you’ll also see very short hairs emerging and falling out -- this is the follicle shedding your remaining hair.

You can repeat this treatment as recommended by your clinician, and eventually you may not need it at all anymore.
